At Jealous Bridesmaids we offer in-house alterations for bridal, bridesmaids, and evening gowns.

Our head seamstress has over thirty years of experience and her goal is to ensure that your gown is perfectly tailored to your body. Our mission is to see our clients through from start to finish to ensure that you will leave Jealous Bridesmaids 100% satisfied with the dress of your dreams fully tailored and uniquely fitted to you. Please note that in most cases some kind of alterations are required for bridal and bridesmaids dresses; it is rare that a dress will fit perfectly straight out of the box (please see Wedding Dress & Bridesmaids Dress Shopping 101 for more information).

We also welcome alterations even if you did not buy your wedding gown, bridesmaid dress or evening gown with us, however please note that all alterations and alterations consultations are by appointment only. Please call us to book an appointment for the consultation. 

For bridal, alterations normally occur approximately one to two months before the wedding. We ask that you have the same shoes and undergarments that you will be wearing on the wedding day ready in anticipation of your first fitting.

Normally a bride has approximately three to four fittings*:

• the first appointment is known as a pinning, where the seamstress pins and adjusts the dress to your body. Typical alterations include a standard take-in, hem and bustle.

• the second fitting is where the seamstress fine tunes those adjustments and ensures the fit is perfect prior to putting all details back in place and fully closing the seams.

• the third fitting is oftentimes the final and pick-up where you will see your fully completed gown in all its glory but sometimes some minor tweaking is necessary and so a fourth and final fitting will be booked to ensure all details are perfect. 

For bridesmaids, there are normally two fittings in total*:

• the first fitting is where the seamstress pins areas in need of altering such as the side seams, bust darts and/or hem.

• the second fitting is normally the final and pick-up unless some minor tweaking is necessary. Depending on how much may need to be tweaked, it can be done either on site in a matter of minutes or within days.

We recommend that prior to starting your fittings, and during the alterations process, you try to maintain your weight as stable as possible. This will help our seamstress achieve the optimal result in the most efficient manner and timeframe.
